La legendaria banda británica será homenajeada con una edición especial de monedas de colección hechas por la Casa de la Moneda Real.

Queen es una banda que siempre vale la pena recordar. Los músicos detrás de ese patrimonio de la humanidad conocido como 'Bohemian Rhapsody' será homenajeado en Reino Unido de la mano de la Casa de la Moneda Real.

La banda originaria de Londres protagonizará una nueva edición de monedas para colección, en las que se mostrará el logo clásico del grupo. Además, los objetos de colección tendrán imágenes de los instrumentos de cada uno de los miembros de Queen, como Brian May y su guitarra Special II, hasta el piano de Freddie Mercury. No podían faltar el bajo de John Deacon y la batería de Roger Taylor.

La Casa de la Moneda Real emitió un comunicado en el que mencionó las razones de este homenaje a la popular banda de rock. "Formados en Londres durante el inicio de los años '70, Queen redefinió la música al mezclar el rock pesado con el pop", dice.

Brian May, legendario guitarrista de la banda, contó sus impresiones respecto a este homenaje en un comunicado difundido por Universal Records. "Es realmente un momento en el que piensas ‘¿quién podría haber imaginado tal cosa?’. Cuando empezamos, incluso el primer peldaño de la escalera de la fama parecía inalcanzable", comentó. Finalmente añade que "Tener nuestra banda y nuestra música reconocida de esta manera es muy conmovedor y un verdadero honor".

Las monedas de colección tendrán los siguientes valores: desde 13 libras ($13.000) por una moneda de 5 libras, hasta 2.020 libras ($ 2.025.000) por la moneda de oro de 100 libras.
